CHELSEA will struggle to find the quality striker in January; this is according to football pundit Ray Wilkins.
The defending Premier League champions are currently third in the league table with 11 points behind from Manchester City.
But Wilkins thinks it will be tough to sign a quality player that hasn’t played in the Champions League.
The former Chelsea assistant also believes that Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski would be a perfect addition to Chelsea.
He told Sportingbet: “When you’re Chelsea, or any top club for that matter, you’re always looking for Champions League calibre players, most of which are already playing for teams in the competition and therefore are registered and won’t be able to play in European competitions for you.
“You have to look at teams who have had the unfortunate situation of dropping out of Europe.
“It would have been lovely to see Bayern Munich knocked out and Robert Lewandowski come to Chelsea but that’s unlikely to happen.
“He’s a player I’d love to see come to Stamford Bridge.
“Unless they pull a gem out of the bag, it’s a difficult to window to play in.”
Chelsea have signed Alvaro Morata, Danny Drinkwater Davide Zappacosta and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
However, they also missed out on signing their top transfer target, for example, Romelu Lukaku who has signed their direct Premier League rivals, while they have also missed with the signing of Ross Barkley.
The Blues return to Premier League action this lunchtime against Newcastle United.
