Frank Lampard has confirmed the Welsh ace Ethan Ampadu will be departing Chelsea on loan this summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old midfielder made only five first-team matches under Maurizio Sarri last campaign and didn’t feature at all in the EPL.
Ampadu hasn’t travelled with Chelsea’s team for their pre-season tour of Japan as he aims to complete his temporary transfer away from Stamford Bridge.
And Lampard admits he is interested for Ampadu to get more game time on loan this campaign.
‘Ethan is not here as we’re looking at the possibility of him going on loan for the season,’ Frank said on Tuesday after arriving in Japan.
‘I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think of the bigger picture and the interests of Ethan and of Chelsea.
‘The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we haven’t brought him here while that is up in the air.’
Meantime, Championship club Swansea City are considering a summer deal to sign Chelsea star Kasey Palmer on a season-long loan.
According to Sky Sports, Swansea City are interested in landing Palmer and are lining up an offer for the playmaker.
He spent the second half of last campaign on loan to Bristol City, but struggled to break into the starting eleven on a regular basis – after having the same problem on loan to Blackburn Rovers in the first few months of the 2018/19 season.
