Chelsea have reportedly identified Stoke City stopper Jack Butland as their no.1 transfer target to replace Thibaut Courtois this summer.
The Blues are being forced into making a decision regarding their goalkeeper position due to Courtois having less than a year left on his current deal and being keen to sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The Premier League giants are allegedly unwilling to sanction the sale if they cannot find a replacement for the 26-year-old goalkeeper, however, it appears that the Blues are making an attempt to secure a solution.
According to Sky Sports News, The Blues are planning to try to secure services of Butland from Stoke before the summer transfer window ends on August 9.
The Potters head-coach Gary Rowett has previously indicated that he expects 24-year-old England international goalkeeper Jack Butland’s to remain at the bet365 Stadium, however, it remains to be seen whether the Staffordshire-based club would be able to rebuff a big-money offer following their relegation from Premier League.
Chelsea are likely to have to pay in excess of £30m to lure Butland at Stamford Bridge.
