Chelsea intends to go head-to-head with Liverpool for La Liga outfits Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez, according to the reports.
The 22-year-old has found back of the net 26 times in 58 La Liga games since joining Spanish club from Defensor Sporting back in 2017, including nine in 22 this season.
The Merseyside Reds are believed to be considering a summer move for Maxi Gomez who has been linked with a January move to West Ham United.
According to The Sun, Maruzio Sarri’s side may also be about to make an approach for Uruguayan forward, and they are prepared to go as high as £35m which Celta Vigo are demanding for their prolific forward.
Chelsea have signed Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus in January, however, the striker is due to return back to his parent club this summer with the Blues are unlikely to make his move permanent at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has been linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur and the Res are already in the market for his replacement, Maxi Gomez has appeared to be on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
A source from Spain reported that Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has recommended his compatriot to a former club.
