Kurt Zouma enjoyed a season-long loan spell with Everton this season.
According to the Telegraph, the Merseyside club have been dealt a blow with the news that Chelsea plan to keep the defender Zouma this window, in light of their transfer ban being upheld.
The 24-year-old joined the Toffees on a season-long loan from the Blues last summer, and was a real hit at Goodison Park, appearing in 36 matches in all competitions for Marco Silva’s team.
It seems as though Everton will now have to look for another top quality central defender, however, with the Telegraph claiming that the Premier League giants will not allow Kurt Zouma to leave Stamford Bridge permanently this transfer window and that will be a bitter pill to swallow for the Merseyside club.
The Frenchman was such an important player for Everton this campaign, and bringing in a player of similar quality will cost them a small fortune.
With Phil Jagielka’s departure from the club confirmed, Everton will be left short in central defence, and that must now be a priority issue to address for manager Marco Silva.
The Sun reported earlier this year that Chelsea valued the France international at around £30 million, and at this age, that would have been a bargain for Everton.
Chelsea meanwhile allowed Eden Hazard to join Real Madrid in £88 million deal but the Blues will receive additional money based on players performances and other add-ons and the price may raise to £130 million.
