Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly weighing up an approach for Villarreal defender Pau Torres.
The 23-year-old centre-back has been a vital component of the Yellow Submarine’s backline this season, playing 29 La Liga games as Villarreal sit fifth in the standing.
Torres still has four years left on his current deal with the Spanish giants, however, his form in the Spanish top-tier this season have supposedly garnered the interest of several top clubs.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have joined the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham, Arsenal and Man City in the race to secure Torres’s services.
The report states that Torres possesses a £45m release clause in his current deal, although the Yellow Submarine would likely have to lower their price tag ahead of a transfer window set to be heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Man Utd have been quiet thus far as they yet to make any new addition for the next campaign, however, extended contract for Scott McTominay, Meanwhile, Chelsea have already added Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax to the ranks at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2020-21 season.
