Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is believed to be a huge admirer of Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu and made an approach for the 22-year-old star, according to the Turkish-Football reports.
It’s believed that Antonio Conte is in the market for midfield reinforcements after the exit of Oscar Chelsea are in need for quality players in the heart of the midfield.
Chelsea have made a surprise January bid for Calhanoglu, with Conte is desperate to sign Bundesliga free-kick specialist.
Earlier last month, The Blues were keeping tabs on the highly-rated Turkey international, who has been Leverkusen’s one of the best performers in the recent years.
However, it appears that Chelsea will face a stiff competition from Manchester United and Barcelona who is believed to be two favourite teams for the 22-year-old midfielder.
“Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be difficult to turn them down.” Said Charlhanoglu.
‘But I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.’
