Chelsea have been keeping a close tabs on Atalanta’s 25-year-old defender Robin Gosens as part of their search for a new full-back.
The futures of current options at the left-back position Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso are uncertain at best, with neither player really making a positive impact on the Blues team this campaign.
Chelsea skipper César Azpilicueta has often been deployed out of position ahead of the defensive pair, so finding a natural left-back could be a priority for the Blues during the summer transfer window.
Club scouts have been keeping tabs on a number of potential options, and according to the sources from Italy, Gosens has been one of those in the Blues sights.
The West London club are not alone in their pursuit of the 25-year-old defender, with both Inter and Lyon also keeping tabs on his signature.
Lyon saw a €25m bid knocked back in the winter transfer window but Atalanta are believed to demanding €30m for his services.
Gosens, who can operate both as a left-back and a wing-back, the position has managed to found back of the net eight times and provided five assists for Serie A outfits, Atalanta before the 2019/20 football was suspended due to the Coronavirus.
