Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are hoping to wrap up a £54m deal for Chelsea out of favour striker Diego Costa this week, according to the British sources.
The striker has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and was thought to leave the club this summer, however, the two clubs have failed to reach the agreement over a transfer fee.
Costa, who is currently in Brazil with his family, has made it clear he wants to make a return to Atletico Madrid.
However, the Spanish giants are banned from signing players until the January, and they are planning to loan Diego Costa before luring him back to the Spain.
However, according to Marca, they are now close to agreeing on a deal for Spain international forward.
Atletico are reportedly in private talks with the Chelsea chiefs, and they are confident to reach an agreement over Costa’s future within one week.
The total fee for Costa’s transfer is believed to be £54m, however, some of that will be paid as a Bonus.
