Interviewed by Sky Sport, Chelsea’s January signing Gonzalo Higuain spoke about his time in Italy and about a new chapter in his football career.
Juventus signed Higuain for €90 million back in 2016 from Napoli, making him the most expensive South American player before Brazilian superstar Neymar’s transfer to Ligue 1 giants PSG.
He’s transfer fee was the highest ever paid by an Italian team untill last season before Ronaldo made move to Juventus, Higuain has managed to won domestic doubles in his first two campaigns with Maximialo Allegri’s side, also reaching the Champions League final with the team, than he was loaned to direct Serie A rivals A.C. Milan, and in January become a Chelsea player.
“I’m very happy to be at Chelsea. It’s a great club with a great stadium, a fantastic football experience. I hope with time that this team can achieve the results it deserves.
“Sarri? He’s the coach who’s brought out the best of me. I know him well, he knows me well. I hope we can return to the level we had at Napoli.
“I think my career in Italy, after six years, was complete. After Napoli, I went to Juventus and I won two league titles, in addition to getting to the Champions League final. At Milan, there were some tough months for me, but I don’t feel that my level was lowered by the Rossoneri,” he concluded.
Chelsea have also signed Christian Pulisic during the January transfer window but the USA international winger has stayed at Dortmund for the rest of the season.
