Reports in Germany claimed that Chelsea are in pole position to secure services of Bayer Leverkusen forward Leon Bailey who has been also a transfer target for Arsenal and Liverpool.
Bailey has found back of the net 12 times in 34 games in all competitions for the German side last season, including an amazing backheel finish against Bundesliga outfits Hoffenheim, alerting a number of Europe’s top teams over his availability.
German giants Bayern Munich are believed to have made a £53million bid in June, however, his preferred destination is believed to be Stamford Bridge.
Bailey offered an update on his future last month.
Speaking to Kicker in Germany, the 21-year-old said: “There’s concrete interest.
“What I can say is that my full focus is on developing myself as a young player, and that’s what I’ll focus on.
“If a club wants me, my management and Bayer will take care of it.”
And according to Fussball Transfers in Germany Chelsea are clear favourites to get the deal done for Jamaican forward.
The news will come as a huge blow for both Arsenal and Liverpool as Bailey still remains on their shortlist ahead of the January transfer window.
