Chelsea and Arsenal have approached Barcelona to ask about the availability of Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen’s, according to reports in Spain.
Arsenal are in the market for a long-term replacement for Petr Cech, who has turned 36. And according to Sport, Unai Emery has demanded to sign a new stopper ahead of the new season.
The report claims that the Gunners have made a direct approach to the Catalan’s to reveal whether a deal will be possible.
However, Chelsea have also enquired about Dutchman’s availability due to the uncertainty over Thibaut Courtois future who has 12 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
Spanish champions are ready to stand firm, but, and are not prepared to sell the Dutch national team keeper for anything lower than his €60 million (£52m).
The 29-year-old stopper is currently the second choice to German goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen however, is believed to be willing to remain at Nou Camp unless he receives an offer he can’t turn dow.
The Merseyside Reds have also been rumoured with a move for the Dutch stopper but it’s Arsenal and Chelsea who are favourites to secure his services.
