Chelsea are playing well under Frank Lampard this campaign, especially given the fact that the Blues are currently serving a transfer embargo.
Though, with the London club appealing the verdict and looking to be able to recruit players sooner rather than later, considering a transfer for Benfica defender Ruben Dias would be a perfect fit.
As things stand, Frank Lampard’s side will not be able to join players in the winter transfer window. They were slammed with a two-window transfer taboo earlier this year after having been found guilty for irregularities in times of their signing of young players.
The Blues do however plan to appeal the ban and might look to make signings in January if their appeal is victorious.
Chelsea have looked a bit nervous at the back this campaign. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have both spent long times on the sidelines due to injury while Kurt Zouma is looking well in terms of his plays.
Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori meanwhile has shone and become fan favour at Stamford Bridge. He does, however, still have a lot of studying to do.
If either Zouma or Tomori were to be injured shortly, it would mean that Frank Lampard would have a lack of power in depth at the back.
Dias has proved himself as one of the brightest up and coming stars in Portugal.
He would be a reliable joining for the Blues and will also fit into Lampard’s vision of grooming young prospect.
While other clubs would desire to sign Dias also, Chelsea’s recent switch to focusing on young players and their current place in the Champions League means that the Benfica man could well be an impressive addition at Stamford Bridge.
The Portugal international would offer the Blues another attractive option at the heart of their defence and could well go on to become a mainstay in a team fighting for significant honours.
