The London giants have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of Inter Milan centre-forward Mauro Icardi. However, the Nerazzurri are reportedly unwilling to budge from their £62.7m valuation and asking price for Icardi.
Chelsea have been monitoring Mauro’s situation at Inter for some time now according to an earlier report and the Blues have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Argentine striker after Inter Milan rejected an offer for Mauro Icardi earlier this week.
Inter received a bid of £54m from PSG, where Icardi is currently on loan and promptly rejected it. The bid tabled by Parisians was in the region of £44.7m upfront plus a further £8.9m in add-ons.
If Blues are still interested in Icardi, this could be the opportunity for them to move ahead of their rivals in the race for his signature. Frank has been short of quality up front this term and Icardi’s record suggests he could well be an upgrade on the likes of Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
Argentina international has scored 20 goals in 28 matches for PSG this campaign and could prove to be a great signing for the London giants, slotting right into Frank Lampard’s squad should they sign the forward from Inter this summer.
