Arsenal after last night’s win over Newcastle United have sent scouts to keep close tabs on Italian wonderkid Nicolo Barella.
The North London club have watched Italian sensation against Juventus.
The Gunners have already watched the Italy international star twice this season and refuse to give up on him despite his hefty price tag.
The 22-year-old has been valued at £43m and as Starsport revealed last week that Barella’s transfer demands on whether Arsenal manages to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Arsenal’s direct Premier League rivals Chelsea have also linked with securing the services of the Italian attacking midfielder.
And in a sign that Serie A outfits could be forced to the negotiating table, their president Tommaso Giulini recently revealed that the club might struggle to prevent Barella from departing from the team.
He said: “It would be marvellous to keep him with us and grow together, but I don’t know how realistic that is as things stand.”
The 22-year-old midfielder was wanted by the Blues back in January and now has a host of Italian team chasing his signature including AC Milan and Napoli.
However, the Gunners head-coach Unai Emery has identified him as an ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsey who has a sign pre-contract agreement with Juventus.
Barella has five caps for Italy and has only missed two games for Cagliari this fur and being directly involved in four goals.
Chelsea and Arsenal remain on course for a top-four finish in the Premier League and both of them continue to participate in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
