Scottish giants Celtic have played down reports rumoured them with a move for Liverpool versatile midfielder Pedro Chirivella.
The Anfield side agreed on a deal with Rosenborg last week, however, the ex-Valencia starlet knocked back a reported £3.5 million move to the Norwegian Eliteserien.
The midfielder was thought to favour a move north, however, reports in The Sun suggest the Bhoys are not seeking to bring the Spaniard to Glasgow despite reports linking him with a move to Celtic Park.
Chirivella, who has appeared for Liverpool senior team during pre-season tour in the USA will be allowed to leave the club after five years. He has made just five appearances for the first team, and most of his time at the club he has spent out on loans at Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles, and Willem II.
Brendan Rodgers handed Chirivella his first senior appearance during his time at Liverpool, however, it appears the ex-Reds boss does not view his former player as a potential replacement should Celtic miss out on signing John McGinn.
