Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz can transform Jurgen Klopp’s midfield like the Portugal international Bruno Fernandes has done at Manchester United, according to Liverpool icon Jan Molby.
The Portugal international has had a big impact since joining United from Sporting CP in January, registering three goals and four assists in his first nine matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Havertz, who has considered as one of the top young talents in German football.
Whilst the Reds are within just two wins of lifting their first league trophy in over 30 years, Molby suggested his former side could do with a high-class creative midfielder like Bruno Fernandes.
‘It might hurt me to say this a little bit, but if you look at the impact Bruno Fernandes has had at Manchester United, now I would love Liverpool to sign that type of a midfield player,’ Jan told Hotel Tia.
‘[I want] a midfield player that brings something different to what [James] Milner or [Naby] Keita or [Georginio] Wijnaldum or [Jordan] Henderson brings.
‘I would dearly love us to get one. Who would that be? We could go back to Germany, they play Monday night, Leverkusen, the young boy Kai Havertz looks a really, really good player.
‘Let’s wait and see and see what kind of money Liverpool have available to make transfers, but I think there are plenty of exciting young players out there.’
Meantime, RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is only interested in a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window and would turn down any approach from Chelsea or Manchester United, Sunday World reports.
