Luis Suarez has played a vital role in Lucas Torreira’s decision to join Premier League giants, Arsenal this summer, according to the agent of the 22-year-old midfielder.
Torreira officially completed his £26 million move to the North London club after Uruguay’s World Cup season last month.
The Uruguay international midfielder impressed at the tournament and featured alongside Suarez in Russia at the World-Cup tournament as Uruguay reached the quarter-final stage, however, were knocked out by the champions France.
And it has emerged that Barcelona superstar Suarez, who was the subject of a £40m plus £1 bid from the Gunners in 2013, gave a glowing review of the North London club to Torreira ahead of his switch to Engliand.
‘The recommendation of Luis Suarez was decisive for Torreira to arrive at Arsenal,’ Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur told Sport890.
Torreira, meanwhile, has joined the Gunners training with his new teammates for the first time last week.
The midfielder has played in the 2-0 victory over Lazio on Saturday and is preparing to make his Premier League debut against Manchester City this week.
