La Liga giants Barcelona could hijack Chelsea move for Uruguayan forward Maxi Gomez in a cut-price deal this summer.
The West London club had been rumoured with a swoop for the South American forward in the summer transfer window.
However, they will be unable to finalise contracts in the summer and next January as a consequence of FIFA’s decision to reward them with a transfer ban. Chelsea attempted to freeze this, enabling them to land players for the next season, however, they have rejected the appeal.
This appears to have left from La Liga giants Barcelona with a clear run at signing Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez from Spanish club this summer, and it seems they could do so for half of his current release clause.
Spanish news outlet Diario Sport claimed that the Celta Vigo forward will be available as little as €25 million this summer instead of the fixed price of €50m.
The Spanish club are currently in a precarious position and sit in 18th place in the La Liga table If they fail to secure a place in the Spanish top-tier ahead of next campaign, potential suitors such as Barca could swoop to and sign Gomez for a bargain fee.
Meanwhile, France international midfielder N’Golo Kante is Zinedine Zidane’s no.1 transfer this summer after the Frenchman has made a return to Real Madrid.
Zidane stepped down from his role as the Los Blancos head-coach 10 months ago after guiding the club to three successive games in the Champions League, however, returns to replace Santiago Solari who has spent around five months in charge of the Spanish giants.
