Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has backed Premier League giants Arsenal to pursue Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon.
The Gunners have appeared as strong favourites to sign the Argentine star following the departure of Ivan Gazidis.
Gunners are in the midst of a major restructuring at the Emirates Stadium, and according to reports, their transfer dealings are also set to be reassessed.
Christian was one of the few players who made an impression in otherwise bitterly disappointing World Cup campaign for his country.
Unai currently has Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at his disposal up front.
But Hislop reckons Christian would give the Spaniard a fine option, either with or instead of the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette.
As reported by the Daily Express, Hislop said of Christian: “He was named in a decent Argentina squad. Young, talented, fits the profile for Arsenal, whether Unai Emery is trying to change Arsenal or not.”
“As I look at this, it makes sense because I feel that Aubameyang and Lacazette are building a good relationship up front, this gives them another option.”
“They’ve got (Danny) Welbeck there, but you know his injuries. This gives them another option to maybe play three up front which a lot of clubs do nowadays.”
