According to CalcioMercato, Arsenal sent scouts to watch AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante in action versus Lecce this weekend.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined AS Roma on a season-long loan from Atalanta in June 2018. He influenced on loan at AS Roma, scoring four goals in 44 matches across all competitions. On February 2019, Roma signed the midfielder’s deal permanent.
The Italian-Canadian has added one goal and two assists in 17 games in all competitions so far this campaign but has spent two months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta focused purely on strengthening his defence in winter by signing Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares from Flamengo and Southampton respectively. Arsenal have leaked 36 goals in 26 Premier League matches this term, meaning Arteta was right in adding Soares and Mari last month.
When the transfer window opens this summer, Mikel Arteta should add more quality to his midfield department. Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka have looked solid in central midfield under Mikel Arteta, meaning the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock have become confined to a spot on the bench.
