According to Calcio Mercato, Newcastle United enter in the race to sign Arsenal target Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United.
It is suggested that Major League Soccer club could be willing to sell the Paraguay international for £15m.
Almiron emerged as a star in his native Paraguay with Cerro Porteno, where he has scored six goals in 39 games, and that earned him a 2015 move to Argentina with Lanus.
The attacking midfielder continued to thrive as he has scored five goals in 44 matches.
His first season in the United States has been a dream, as he has netted nine goals and provided eight assists in just 30 matches, which has seemingly sparked interest in his signature.
Calcio Mercato reports that whilst the Gunners are keen on signing Almiron amid question marks over former Real Madrid star’s future, Newcastle United have joined them in the race to sign him.
Almiron provides that ability to create goal scoring chances for his teammates but has been a goalscoring midfielder throughout his career, and that could be appealing to Newcastle.
It may take a huge fee to convince Atlanta United to sell their leading man, and fans may be concerned about relying on an MLS player in the Premier League, but the 23-year-old star’s quality is undoubted, and he could be an exciting addition to the Premier League clubs.
