Arsenal have reportedly identified La Liga outfits Villarreal playmaker Pablo Fornals as a possible January exit.

New Gunners head-coach Unai Emery was busy during the summer, with Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira brought in to strengthen the club in the middle of the park.

According to an exclusive report in The Sun, new Arsenal boss now wants to add a third new playmaker by looking to meet Fornal’s release clause in his Villarreal deal.

Spaniard is allegedly able to depart from the La Liga club for £17.8m, and it is a fee which the Gunners could look to raise by the sale of Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the key figures at Villarreal, with seven goals coming from 63 appearances in all competitions since his departure from Malaga back in 2017.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool are competing for the services of Club Brugge centre-forward Cyril Ngonge.

The 18-year-old’s form in the Champions Youth League – which has seen him net four goals in as many games – is believed to have attracted interest from many clubs across Europe.

The Mirror suggests that Premier League pair are among the clubs to have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action this term for several times.
