Arsenal are considering a summer swoop for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard as they plan to build ahead of next season.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants to add to his frontline regardless of what the long-term future holds for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
And Hoops man Edouard is in his sights, having netted 61 goals in 125 appearances since his arrival from PSG in 2018.
The 22-year-old star – capped six times by France at U21 level – has scored 27 times this campaign, and helped Celtic to move 13 points clear ahead of closest rivals Celtic at the top of the standings before the season was suspended because of the coronavirus crisis.
Everton and Leicester have also run checks on the £30m-rated youngster, and the north Londoners could be set to take part in a transfer tug-of-war.
In a recent interview with Virgin Media Sport , however, Edouard didn’t appear to be in any hurry to move on from the club, and spoke of how much he was enjoying his time in Scotland.
When questioned how he felt to play at Celtic Park, he said: “It’s something incredible. When we go home after it’s been an unforgettable night and when we play at Celtic Park on a European night, I really enjoy the atmosphere.
“I really appreciate what the fans do and I hope it continues that way.”
The 30-year-old Pierre-Emerick will have just a year to run on his Arsenal deal from June and his position leaves bosses at the Emirates Stadium with a decision to make.
