Arsenal handed huge boost in their long-term pursuit of EPL winger
Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha has reportedly informed Crystal Palace board that he wants to depart as he looks to force through his dream transfer to Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners made an offer of around £40m for the 26-year-old attacker and included the option of three stars to sweeten the deal, but Crystal Palace were quick to turn down the offer.
Though Palace management were reportedly left ‘incensed’ and ‘furious’ by Arsenal’s opening proposal, Unai Emery remains hopeful of signing the Ivory Coast international.
However, the Eagles are reportedly holding out for a fee of £70 million for Zaha and have no interest in allowing the player to leave for half that price.
According to Sky Sports, Wilfried told Palace that he wishes to depart the club after returning from the 2019 Africa Cup Nations.
The Gunners are expected to make another push for the one-time Manchester United man in the coming days.
Wilfried – Emery’s number one attacking target – is desperate to sign for Arsenal, the club he has supported since he was a child.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson insists that Gunners are still some way from meeting their valuation of the forward. ‘I don’t think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation,’ Roy said earlier this week.
‘I’m sure the player realises that if someone’s going to take him away from us, he’ll expect clubs to pay the market value. ‘Until someone does that, there’s not much to discuss regarding Wilf.’
Premier League giants lodge surprise offer for €64m Arsenal signing
Manchester United have already submitted a £62m offer for Arsenal centre-forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it has been sensationally reported.
The Red Devils are understood to want the Gabon international to replace outgoing Belgium international Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian is set to depart Old Trafford for Inter Milan as the Serie A giants plot an offer for the former Everton player.
Manchester United want £80 million for Lukaku with Nerazurri’s latest offer consisting of £60 million up front and £15 million in add-ons.
But if the 26-year-old star does leave for Serie A in the next three weeks, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Pierre-Emerick to replace him
That is according to FcInterNews who claim the Red Devils boss has given his approval to the club’s chief Ed Woodward on carrying out the raid.
