Arsenal are ready to hijack Manchester United move for the signing of Belgian playmaker Youri Tielemans, according to the reports.
The Belgian midfielder has impressed in the English top-tier since making the switch to the King Power Stadium during the January transfer window, finding back of the net three times and five assists in 13 Premier League games.
As a result, former Liverpool head-coach Brendan Rodgers who has currently in charge of the Foxes wants to make his transfer permanent, although several of top teams in England have expressed interest in his signature.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have already been rumoured with securing the services of the 22-year-old midfielder, who has been capped 21 times for his country.
Now, the Daily Star are reporting that the North London club are ready to rival the Premier League giants duo to secure the services of the Tielemans this summer.
It is possible that they view Belgian playmaker as an upgrade to Granit Xhaka, while Aaron Ramsey’s exit to Juventus means that the Gunners need a new box-to-box midfielder.
The player for his part recently revealed that he is now idea where he will continue his future:
“At the moment there’s nothing. I’ll go back to Monaco this summer, unless something moves, but that’s not the case at the moment.
“When things go well, of course, you want it to stay that way. But I do not know how it’s going to go or how much Monaco are going to ask.”
Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester United’s centre-forward Marcus Rashford and Arsenal’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as top summer target in the summer.
The Spanish giants are expected to strengthen their offensive end during the upcoming transfer window, and Atletico Madrid’s superstar Antoine Griezmann has been heavily rumoured with a switch to Nou Camp.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants are also considering bids for each of Aubameyang and Marcus Rashford ahead of next campaign.
Man Utd forward effectively has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford, however, the England international is yet to agree on terms over a new contract.
Aubameyang’s deal is also due to expire back in 2021, and the Gunners find themselves in a position where they may be unable to hand the Gabon pay rise on his current £180,000 per week salary.
Meanwhile, The battle for Fiorentina’s highly-rated winger Federico Chiesa is likely to be one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer as Liverpool have also joined Arsenal in the race to secure his services.
The 21-year-old has made a huge impact in Serie A has already captained the side after breaking into their starting XI and picking up 11 caps for Italy in the process.
The forward has found back of the net six times in 28 Serie A games this season, including his goal in Fiorentina’s last outing, away to Cagliari before the international break,
His performances over the last three campaign have attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, PSG, Chelsea and now Liverpool, according to TeamTalk.
Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Argentina and Gremio defender Walter Kannemann as Unai Emery plans to strengthen their defensive end ahead of the next season.
The North London club are hoping to offload German centre-back Shkodran Mustafi to AC Milan, however, will only have transfer budget around £40million for new players if they fail to claim the Europa League trophy and secure place in the Champions League football next season.
That means they will have to get creative in the transfer market, and that has led them to turn their attention to Kannemann, who has impressed in recent campaigns and earned a spot in the national team.
Now FOX Sports Argentina report that the Gunners are ‘intensifying’ their interest in a 28-year-old centre-back and are willing to offer him around £11.5m to secure his services.
Kannemann has a release clause around £17m, which Gremio will hold out for, however, the North London club will try to get him for slightly under that valuation as they try and stretch their transfer budget.
The centre-back has won the Copa Libertadores with both Gremio and San Lorenzo though did not make his international debut until September.
The 28-year-old defender has collected five caps in total and was part of the 40-man team selected for this summer’s Copa America team.
In addition to a new defender, Unai Emery is known to want a new box-to-box midfielder in order to fill the gap that would be left after the departure of Aaron Ramsey – who will join Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer – as well as a forward and full-back.
Stephan Lichtsteiner, Danny Welbeck and Petr Cech will all depart from the team when their contracts ends, while the Gunner are open to offers for Mohamed Elneny, Mesut Ozil, Mustafi, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
