Schalke star Max Meyer could be going to Bayern Munich on a free transfer, much like his team mate Leon Goretzka, as reported to Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalan outlet reports Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel already thinks that Bayern have swooped in for an another one of his footballers, and in a desperate effort to keep him, he has offered a sizeable wage rise.
Sports Bild suggested last week that the offer was €5.5m a campaign, or £94,000 a week and that the footballer was lining up offers from eight other teams, including Arsenal and Barcelona.
But, Mundo Deportivo suggests that Meyer has already made up his mind and that he wants to join Bayern. The Catalan giants have therefore withdrawn from the hunt for the 22 footballers in order to increase their bargaining place in contract talks with Bayern. Whether that is actually the problem, we will have to wait and see.
