Chelsea are reportedly planning to challenge their London rivals Arsenal for the services of Russian club CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is planning to lure the Russian playmaker to Stamford Bridge with a view to loaning him out to Eredivisie club Vitesse for one season, according to Sport24.
Arsene Wenger’s side are said to have sent scouts to keep close tabs on the 21-year-old this campaign, although Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently downplayed reports that he is planning to make a bid for the Russian playmaker.
Golovin has scored a consolation goal against Arsenal when they met CSKA in the Europa League quarter-finals, a tie the Gunners won 6-3 on aggregate.
The midfielder has earned 17 caps for his national team and is expected to feature for Russia in the World-cup 2018 tournament where the Premier League giants will have another chance to keep close tabs on his performance before making a move for his signature.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Arsenal are both also in the hunt for the services Nice midfielder Jan Michel Seri.
