Serie A giants AS Roma are trying to extend Nicolo Zaniolo’s deal by another five years in order to fend off Arsenal interest, according to the reports.
The North London club are believed to like the look of the 22-year-old attacking midfielder and could target him as a long-term replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who will make a switch to Serie A champions Juventus.
Italy international midfielder is a more attacking option, comfortable playing off the in a deep midfield option or as a striker, and his versatility has also earned him to be rumoured with a move to top Premier League teams.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported that AS Roma are desperate to keep hold of the Italy international, however, and they could meet his £2m wage demands per season.
Talks are believed to be scheduled between the Giallorossi and the agent of Zaniolo for Thursday.
Should an agreement not be reached, the North London will supposedly weigh up whether to make a £36m offer for AS Roma star who only made his senior debut back in September and has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A.
