The uncertainty surrounding Jose Mourinho’s future as head-coach of Man United appears to be having a snowball effect on the players, with French forward Anthony Martial reportedly putting contract talks on hold.
The Frenchman had a well-publicized falling out with Mourinho earlier this summer after the player returned late to pre-season training following the birth of his son.
Despite that saga, the Red Devils are keen to tie Frenchman down to a new deal to avoid having to sell him for a cut-price deal.
The Frenchman signed for the Reds from AS Monaco for £57.6m three years ago and he only has the current campaign left on his deal, although the Reds will be able to trigger an automatic one-year extension this summer.
The Red Devils recognise that his value will reduce significantly though if he doesn’t sign a new contract before then and The Sun are reporting that France international star has put deal on hold as he wants to see how the Reds season with Mourinho pans out.
A number of several top teams are lurking if Martial doesn’t extend his deal.
