Arsenal are one of two teams interested in Portugues giants FC Porto central midfielder Hector Herrera, according to reports in Portugal, but face stiff competition from Lyon.
O Jogo suggested that the rumours that French club are hoping to ‘close’ a deal for Mexico International midfielder for €30m, following a conversation with the Porto club president.
However, they’re not the only ones with ESPN recently linked Arsenal with a move for his signature after an impressive world-cup tournament in Russia.
Herrera is the skipper of his current club in Portugal as he has joined them back in 2013 and now the 28-year-old midfielder is believed to be open for a new challenge.
Herrera himself is believed to be open for Porto’s exit but it’s unclear whether Arsenal or Lyon secure his services for the next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Herrera’s international teammate Hirving Lozano who has enjoyed a stunning 2017/18 season scoring 17-goals and providing 12-assists in the process.
