Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign FC Porto defender Diogo Leite this summer according to the Guardian.
The 19-year-old centre-back who has a €15m release clause in his current deal with Porto has attracted interest from hosts of European heavyweights by showing a solid performance for Porto B side.
The report also states that Premier League giants have sent scouts to keep close tabs on Portugues wonderkid when he was playing for the U23s against Arsenal on Tuesday night.
The Porto defender might be a wanted man by a number of clubs, however, moving to Anfield makes sense at the present moment, given how many players Jurgen Klopp gives chance.
Leite might have to wait a bit before he can play for Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI. However, he will have a chance to shine if he agrees to Anfield move
Jose Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are two examples of Liverpool’s youth policy working out, and with a number of concerns regarding the REds central defensive partnership, Leite could be a long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk.
On the other hand Arsenal are also a perfect place for the Portugues wonderkid with Per Mertesacker is set to hang his boots on the wall after the end of the season and while Mustafi and Rob Holding failing to secure a spot in the Gunners starting XI Leite could have a chance to impress the new manager.
