Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte has recently revealed that the Blues centre-back Kurt Zouma is ahead of schedule as he attempts to get game fit after a terrible knee injury that saw him miss half of the 2015/16 campaign.
The Frenchman has not performed for Chelsea since sustaining ligament injury against The Red Devils back in February.
The centre-back had aimed a return to the first team in September, however, is already training with the first-team player and could be available next week against their first Premier League clash against West Ham.
Zouma played a full practice game with the rest of the first team last week, and it seems that he is ready to play 90 minutes of the Premier League football.
The youngster, who was operating next to Gary Cahill, showed no indication of distress and showed the pace which made him such an asset last year.
But, Conte still might take the careful approach and said: “Zouma is improving a lot, and this is good news for us. But we know that his injury was very bad and for this reason, we must respect him.
“It’s important that Zouma takes his time to be sure to go into the team and to stay till the end. For me, it’s important to see that he is improving, and I am very happy for the guy. His injury was very, very bad.” – He Added.
