Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal.
The 29-year-old defender will undergo a medical with the North London club this week, according to the Kicker reports.
Greek International defender, who has one year left on his current deal with Dortmund, is believed to have already reached an agreement over personal terms with the Premier League giants and has been on the brink to become Unai Emery’s first signing at Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are desperate for defensive reinforcements ahead of the next season, with reports elsewhere suggesting that Serie A champions, Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner is also on his way to the North London club.
Sokratis has made almost 200 appearances for German giants since joining the club from Werder Bremen back in 2013.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also eyeing summer move for another Bundesliga defender Çağlar Söyüncü, according to the reports from Germany.
Turkish centre-back has been heavily linked with an exit from Freiburg but German club are demanding at least £35m for his signature.
