Gabun international midfielder Mario Lemina could end up for signing Liverpool, according to Paul Merson.
The Southampton’s midfield destroyer has impressed in the Premier League since his £15m move from Serie A champions Juventus.
And Merson reckons Lemina could follow the footsteps of former Southampton players that have signed for Liverpool after an impressive campaign at St Mary’s stadium.
“Yeah I know (he’s been at Juventus) but he couldn’t have done that great because he’s at Southampton,” Merson told Sky Sports before Southampton played Manchester United.
“What I saw there he was very good, this is his test today, playing at home against a good Man United midfield.
“If he starts getting on the ball and dictating, you will have to start saying what a signing he is.”
Merson jokingly added: “He’ll probably go and play for Liverpool next season!”
Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Nathaniel Clyne have all joined Liverpool from Southampton in the recent years.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been in stunning form for Southampton since his switch from Italy and has already being linked with a switch to a bigger club after the end of the current campaign.
