AC Milan could make a swoop for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in January transfer window if they lose Krzysztof Piatek, according to a report.
The Italians are struggling for goals this campaign, having scored just four in six Serie A matches with only two coming from open play.
His struggles are well documented: the Polish star has just one from open play in his last 12 competitive matches for Milan stretching back to last season.
Calciomercato.it recently reported though that Barcelona want him to replace Luis Suarez, while Pianeta Milan suggested the last week that Manchester United are also keen on a swoop for the €40-50m rated striker.
An Italian daily sports newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport then went as far as to suggested that the board would not oppose the departure of the former Genoa forward in January.
A report from also Italian media outlet Calciomercato.it states that if Krzysztof appears close to leaving then Chelsea star Olivier Giroud could be an option to replace him.
The Frenchman has played five times in competitive matches for Chelsea this season, scoring only once, but the player does have a record of 19 goals and 13 assists in 68 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club.
The 31-year-old star also has 36 goals in 93 caps for Poland, and currently has a contract which expires in June of 2020, meaning he could join on a free.
