Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans told his agent to give up on a move to Man Utd because he wanted to make a switch to Leicester City, reports say.
Arsenal and Man Utd were keen on the former Anderlecht man after an impressive six-month loan spell at King Power Stadium last campaign.
Monaco placed a £40million price tag on Belgian midfielder and there was expected to be a fight for his services.
However, Leicester announced the signing of 22-year-old midfielder this week in what is a record-breaking deal in their history.
Tielemans signed a four-year deal and decided that Leicester City has been the better choice then Man Utd or Arsenal.
Sky Sports claim the 22-year-old’s agent wanted to wait and see if the Red Devils would make an official offer for the Belgian playmaker later in the summer.
Tielemans’ agent thought Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would make their move if Paul Pogba left the Red Devils.
Pogba is being rumoured with a switch to Real Madrid and his agent Mino Raiola reiterated on Tuesday the midfielder is keen on leaving the club.
But Tielemans wasn’t prepared to wait and told his agent to forget about Man Utd and negotiate with Leicester City to get the deal done.
‘I really can’t wait to get started again with this club,’ said Tielemans after his move.
‘I believe that we have the talent in our squad to achieve something special and for any player, that’s an exciting thing to be a part of.’
