Newcastle United are poised to land midfielder Kyle Scott, after his deal with Chelsea came to an end in June, according to Football Insider.
They report that the 21-year-old talent is set to sign a three-year deal with The Magpies, after accepting a proposal to join despite the former manager Rafael Benitez having played a part in the initial offer to sign him.
Kyle is capable of playing across the central midfield zones and has represented England at Under-16 level and USA at Under-18 level.
He only ever featured in one match for Chelsea, when Kyle came on for the final 28 minutes of a 4-0 FA Cup victory against Hull City.
The 21-year-old star spent time on loan in the second division of Dutch football last campaign with SC Telstar, where he started 12 matches and came on as a substitute twice, netting two goals as the club went on to finish 15th in the standings.
This is not necessarily the most exciting signing for the Magpies at first glance, but there’re numerous examples where somebody has not been given a chance at the Blues before going on to have a good career somewhere else.
While it would obviously be too much to suggest Kyle can go on to replicate the likes of Mohamed Salah or Kevin De Bruyne after their early exits from Chelsea,
Diame’s departure from Newscastle United does deprive the Toon of the man who made the second-most tackles per match last season.
With Hayden being the first, bringing in the kind of star to win the ball back could be vital.
Kyle is said to be that and, while Scott has a lot to prove, would at least appear to have the raw tools to replace some of what has been lost.
