Schalke 04 playmaker and reported Liverpool transfer target Max Meyer has strongly hinted he may snub the offer to sign a new contract with his current club
The Red boss Jurgen Klopp developed a knack for breeding young and upcoming talents as first-team footballers during his stay at Westfalenstadion, and it’s no wonder he’s interested in Schalke ace, given his standing among Germany’s prospects.
The Merseyside giants are expected to add to their ranks in attacking midfield, to join the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane ahead of a busy 2017/18 campaign.
And with the 21-year-old admitting he is “50-50” to depart from the Royal Blues this summer, the Mirror have named Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur as potential suitors.
“There have been no further talks,” he had told ZDF TV. “Why not [leave]? I can imagine both [staying or moving on]. The odds are 50-50.”
The German news outlt Bild recently suggested that a deal worth around £17 million would convince the Gelsenkirchen club to part ways with the four capped Germany international this summer.
Meyer, in the German Bundesliga, has scored one goal this season and creating 19 chances. He has also completed 501 passes with a pass accuracy of 86%, of which 57% were forward passes.
