Willian has suggested if Chelsea hadn’t blocked his transfer he might be reunited with his former manager Jose Mourinho.
The 29-year-old was frustrated with his playing time during the Chelsea title-winning campaign and being rumoured with a switch to rival camps Man Utd.
Willian was Chelsea best player during Mourinho’s final season at the Stamford Bridge, scoring five league goals and assisting six more back in 2015-16 season.
It emerged in April that Jose Mourinho was keen on to lure Willian at Old Trafford and the player has himself confirmed that the deal could happen if the Premier League champions hadn’t blocked his transfer.
“There were a few conversations with my agent. I worked with Mourinho, and I became his friend as well,” he told Goal.com. “He likes me a lot and I like him a lot as a coach and as a person. He has put his trust in me and in my work, and I was very grateful to him.
“Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I’m very happy at Chelsea.”
Antonio Conte’s side have already sold Nemanja Matic to the Red Devils in a £40m deal, and they can’t afford to lose another key player from their squad.
