Liverpool and Chelsea have been dealt a hammer blow after Faouzi Ghoulam has signed a new long-term deal with Napoli.
Ghoulam has made 151 appearances for the Serie A giants since joining them back in 2014, and since then he has been strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League.
Reports suggest that Chelse and Liverpool have made an approach for the Algerian star which was immediately knocked back by the Italian club earlier in October.
It’s also believed that Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp have been expressing a strong interest in Algeria international defender.
However, on Tuesday afternoon the Italian giants have announced that the Algeria international has signed a new five-year deal with the Serie A leaders.

The 26-year-old full-back’s previous contract was set to expire in June next summer, and Napoli have responded emphatically to the rumours that his deal would not be renewed.
‘With regard to the “freeze on the renewal of the contract”, renewed until June 30, 2022,’ Napoli tweeted.
It’s believed Ghoulam now has a release clause of around £30million.
