Jose Mourinho wants to be reunited with Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma at Old Trafford, according to reports
The France international has endured a frustrating season at Stamford Bridge, only featuring in seven Premier League games, with David Luiz and Gary Cahill flourishing in defence.
Mourinho lured the 22-year-old to Chelsea from Saint-Etienne in 2014 for a reported fee of £12m and used him frequently as the Blue secured title success the subsequent season.
And now The Sun say the Portuguese tactician will swoop Zouma once the transfer window opens this summer.
The Special One will target a centre-back in his summer shake-up – with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones the latest players in his firing line.
The 6ft3 ace could partner either Eric Bailly or Marcos Rojo at the heart of defence. If he didn’t start, the young Frenchman would represent a more like-for-like replacement for Mourinho’s primary destroyers than the more forward-thinking Daley Blind.
However, despite making just two Premier League starts since returning from a serious knee injury, Antonio Conte reportedly sees the powerful defender as an important squad player and will be reluctant to sanction his exit with the club legend John Terry set to leave at the end of the season.
