Liverpool have reportedly begun talks with Portugues giants Sporting Lisbon over a summer deal for highly-rated midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Sporting this campaign, founding the back of the net for 13 times and registering 18 assists in the process.
Despite having been capped just four times for Portugal, the 23-year-old midfielder is believed to be firmly in contention to secure a place in Fernando Santos’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World-Cup 2018 this summer.
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, the Merseyside Reds have been monitoring Fernandes’s progress this campaign and have been impressed with his fine form and performance in the Europe League.
The report suggests that Anfield officials have been meeting with the player’s representatives to discuss a potential switch to Anfield this summer.
Fernandes is in his first campaign at Sporting, having moved in a £7m deal from Serie A outfits Sampdoria last season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in danger to lose their star midfielder Emre Can who is refusing to sign a contract extension amid interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
