Liverpool and Arsenal handed massive boost in their pursuit for Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer.
The 22-year-old star has attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool with his deal expiring after the end of the current season.
Talks over a contract extension have stalled and now German giants have confirmed they are preparing for life without Max Meyer.
Schalke’s Sporting Director Christian Heidel told reporters on Meyer’s future: “At the moment we can and must expect that Max leaves the club in the summer. Everything suggests that.
“At the moment there is no offer from us and no wish from Max to have a conversation again.”
German versatile midfielder has refused to open talks with his current club over possible stay at AufSchalke arena.
That has been a source of frustration for the German team, with club president Clemens Tonnies recently revealed that the midfielder’s agents had cancelled the latest meeting that have been scheduled.
He said: “I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice.”
With there seemingly no deal to be done, German midfielder will be able to leave as a free agent.
Alongside with Max Meyer Liverpool and Arsenal keeping tabs another German midfielder Kemer Demirbay.
