Max Meyer has once again come on Liverpool radar, after refusing to sign a contract extension with Schalke.
ESPN are reporting that the Merseyside Reds retain an interest in German playmaker who has recently announced that he would not extend his stay at Schalke after last season disappointing campaign, which led to the dismissal of coach Markus Weinzierl.
The £17.5m-rated Schalke playmaker has also been a transfer target for Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Meyer is unhappy with the lack of progress his club are making and is keen on to make change’s in his career and play in the different league, amid interest from Tottenham and Liverpool.
After scoring five goals and six assists in 2015/16 season, German international star has struggled the last term as he had found the net only once.
With the World Cup coming next summer German international ace is keen on to player regular first-team football to impress Joachim Low. A good season at a leading Premier League club would surely put him in the 23-man Germany squad for FIFA World-Cup 2018.
If Max Meyer agrees to join Liverpool, he will be linked up with his compatriots Loris Karius and Emre Can.
