Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Serie A centre-back Stefan de Vrij.
The Merseyside Reds have been linked with a move for the Dutch defender after their approach for Virgil van Dijk broke down earlier last summer.
Nonetheless, Liverpool boss is still keen to bolster his defensive options for the next season and de Vrij has been on top of his wishlist.
De Vrij’s current deal with Lazio expires at the end of 2017/18 season and, while the Dutch international is expected to sign a contract extension with the club within days he will have a £20m release clause inserted in his deal.
Italian outlet Il Messaggero reports that Premier League giants, Man Utd and Chelsea also consider a move for Dutchman and planning to provide competition for Liverpool when the transfer window will be re-opened n the summer.
De Vrij has made 27 appearances for Italian giants across all competitions this campaign, scoring three goals.
Meanwhile, the Premer League trio have also been linked with a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and might try to price Italian stopper from San Siro during the summer transfer window.
