Liverpool should replace Philippe Coutinho with £40million bid for Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez, according to football pundit John Aldridge.
The Merseyside Reds have shown they are not keen on their laurels in the January transfer market and already have spent £75m for Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
The club also appears to be close of completing a deal with the Catalan club for Coutinho, rumoured to be in the region of £130m.
John Aldridge thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s side should not shy away from reinventing money in strengthening their offensive end.
And he has called for Jurgen Klopp to make a ‘sneaky’ £40m offer for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to offset the departure of Coutinho.
“Liverpool made a real statement of intent when they paid £75m to sign Virgil van Dijk,” Aldridge told the Irish Independent.
“And now they should put in a sneaky £40m offer to try and get Alexis Sanchez out of Arsenal.
“After a valuable 2-1 win at Burnley yesterday came with a dramatic late goal from Ragnar Klavan, there is a real feel good factor around Liverpool at the moment.
“The absence of Philippe Coutinho from the Liverpool team yesterday fuelled rumours that he may be on his way to Barcelona sooner than we expected.
“But that would not be so much of a concern if they could nick a player like Sanchez.”
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez seems to favour move to Manchester City ahead of Liverpool with Chilean is desperate to being reunited with Pep Guardiola.
