Liverpool are plotting a summer swoop for highly-rated Spanish goalkeeper Dani Martin, according to reports.
The 19-year-old Spaniard is currently playing in the Spanish second division for Sporting Gijon, though he has made just one senior appearance for them, and he has been capped by Spains Under-17 and Under-19 level.
He spent the majority of last campaign playing for Sporting’s B helping Gijon second team to finish as the runner-ups, although they were defeated by Elche in the play-off semi-finals.
Spanish teenager has kept eight clean sheets throughout the regular campaign, conceding just 33 goals in 33 appearances.
And now the Merseyside Reds have emerged as suitors for the teenager, according to The Mirror, with the Reds boss keen to bring Gijon star to Anfield and develop him as Liverpool long-term no.1
It is believed he will be brought to Merseyside to be loaned straight back out to continue his development, although Martin might find himself in Liverpool’s senior squad if current third-choice glovesman, Danny Ward, leaves Anfield this summer.
The Merseyside Reds are on the lookout for a new stopper, with German manager Jurgen Klopp hoping to replace Loris Karius following his terrible errors in the Champions League final.
The Reds have been rumoured with a move for Brazilian stopper Alisson as well as Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha.
