Bundesliga giants Schalke will decide in July whether to sign Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman.
The 22-year-old left-back has been identified as a replacement for Sead Kolasinac who is closing in on a move to Arsenal.
Chelsea defender has spent last season on loan in Germany where he has impressed Schalke and their doctor set to met with Baba in London next month.
Ghanaian defender has missed the second part of the 2016/17 season after suffering a knee injury during the AFCON.
It is hoped that the Blues defender will recover in time for the end of pre-season and Schalke will be able to sign him.
“Our team doctor met with Baba in London,” Heidel told Bild.
“His knee injury is much more complex and lengthy than anticipated.
“We will wait until July and then decide with Baba and his agent whether it makes sense to open negotiations with Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea are weighing up a shock swoop for former Juventus’s right-back Dani Alves.
The 34-year-old is a veteran defender who has played his fourth Champions League final in Cardiff in yesterday.
According to the Sportsmail reports, Dani Alves is open for a new challenge and wants to work with Chelsa manager Antonio Conte.
