Arsenal are reportedly favourites to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins, who has been valued at £60m by Portuguese club.
The 23-year-old winger is believed to be the latest player to look to terminate his deal with Portuguese giants after a section of the club’s fans attacked the players at their own training ground.
Daniel Podence and Rui Patricio have already told Sporting that they are looking to cancel their deals and the same sources claim that Gelson Martins could do the same.
Should that be the case then the 23-year-old – who is valued at around £60m by Sporting – would be available on a free transfer this summer.
Hots of European club are monitoring the situation of highly-rated winger’s situation. However, the report claims that the Gunners are in pole position to secure his services.
Martins has won 18 caps for Portugal and is part of a 23-man squad of his national team after scoring 13 goals and creating 13 for his teammates at Sporting Lisbon.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have finalised signing of Juventus defender Stephan Lichsteiner who has joined the North London club as a free agent last week.
